Some kid has run into the side of my 1995 Eunos 1.8.... I need to replace the drives door and front wing, and also the front part of the rear wing.

Will the parts I need fit if I get them off any Mk1? Mine has Electric windows.

As far as I know the UK cars have the same doors and wings and the Japanese cars. Contact someone like MX5 Parts and I'm sure they can give you a definitive answer.

From memory the early cars (i.e. before they introduced the 1.8) didn't have side impact beams in the doors but when they introduced the 1.8 these were put in. I think the wings are the same. I might be talking rubbish though (often do).

I'd have to dig through the MX5 development books I've got but I think from memory that is correct, the 1.8 Mk1 introduced side impact beams in the doors.I doubt the wings changed at all.

Have a chat with the folks at Autolink, I got a door from them last year to replace a damaged one.

I think it was just after the 1.8 was introduced, around the same time the low power 1.6 was introduced so around 1995?
Some people call these cars Mk1.5 as there are a few other changes such as extra impact protection under the bumpers, extra chassis bracing under the car and revised door panels. It added to the weight of the car but made it a fair bit safer in a collision. The early 1.8s before these revisions are the lightest and therefore fastest Mk1s.

I've got a 94 1.8, I think that's the first year of that engine.

Regardless of the impact protection etc, I'd assume that they have the same external dimensions and are interchangable?

I think 1.8 was introduced in '93. That's not when the improved impact protection was brought in though.
But yes, the doors will be the same size. Whether the door latch is the same I don't know though. It might have been changed as it is linked to the impact beams.

I like it when you post Lazza, it gives me an excuse to go and read about what you've done to your car. One day I hope to understand it all. spin
