Is the sensor the same part for both the 1.6 and the 1.8?

I have a 1995 1.8 import, but all the ones I find for sale seem to have been taken off 1.6 models.

Thanks for any help

Thanks!

And yes they don't have any mk1 1.8 ones sadly. Mx5parts only has the Mazda part at £376 quid, bugger that!!

I'll try find someone breaking a 1.8.

Technically correct, but whilst internally the 1.6 units are magnetic and the 1.8 units optical sensors, electrically they output identical signals, and the plug is also identical.

The location of the locking bolt is on the opposite side however, (as the 1.6 CAS fits on the intake cam rather than the exhaust cam), but if you are happy to fabricate a way of locking the CAS in place, there is nothing else stopping you using a 1.6 CAS on a 1.8 car.

Thanks for the help chaps, found a 1.8 one in the end for £47 which popped up on fleabay.

MX5 Heaven had one for £84, junkyarddog said *if* he had one it would be £35. But I needed one sooner rather than later.
