oily smell at high revs

I've got a 94 1.8 Eunos, and recently noticed that there is a fairly obvious burnt oily smell in the car (with the roof down of course) just after the engine has been revved high. I know there is a small issue with a small amount of oil pooling the cylinders after a long lay-up, so it needs valve guides or seals or whatever at some point , but what would cause this odd smell in the car when driving? It doesn't smoke from the exhaust that I can see at any revs, only for a few seconds after being parked for 2 months.

The CAS o-ring has a small leak also, to be replaced when I do the cambelt - does it leak more at high revs and drip on the exhaust?

thanks
James

Hi I had the same problem, changed cam cover gasket and cas o ring as both were weeping seems to have sorted it. Do them at the same time it's fiddly other wise to do the cas o ring after the cam cover gasket as I did!

Do the CAS o-ring, sooner rather than later! Also check the condition of the heater matrix hose directly below it. Mine let go on me in a big way!

Will do, thanks.

It also gives me a good excuse to do the 14 degree timing mod, that made my old 1.6 a lot nicer to drive so I shall try it on this 1.8 too.
