Hi,

Im sure theres a thread somewhere here but no idea how to find it amongst the 200 odd pages..confused

I track a MK2 1.8 with better brakes and now looking at some new rubber. Thinking of Toyo T1R or 888, any ideas or suggestions from people who have tried these or other makes ??

I am running Federal 595 RSR on my MK1 MX5 and find them a good compromise. Not as expensive as the R888 and similar

T1R and 888 are very different. T1R will melt on track. did you mean R1R?

On our track car we just finished off a set of Avon ZV3 and I was very impressed by them! They didn't melt on track and aren't useless in the wet. Not great road tyres but seem to come alive on track.

We usually use Toyo 888 and on my own car I use Yoko A048 (which are similar) but you don't really want dedicated track day tyres unless you have upgraded suspension as well as brakes.

I dont want an all out track tyre and if its rains when im there I dont want to spend my life going round in circles. The car gets odd use on the road but mainly driven to the track day and then driven home again.

So something good for track but not useless in the wet.

I've got Yokohama AD08r's on my mk1 and they offer plenty of grip on the track, also seem to be fine on the road as well.
