Evening chaps,

I’ve just bought a 1990 NA eunos 1.6 as a little project. I’m hoping to have it fixed up and on the road for the "summer". I’m stripping it down to apply a fresh coat of paint as it’s not in great shape, still haven’t decided on a colour though. I’ll also need to fit a new engine or rebuild the current engine as it has a very harsh knocking sound and very little power. So while I have the entire car stripped down I want to know what I should add/replace/upgrade. Is there anything you wish you had of done (besides a V8 smile)? Any advice or input would be great.

Hi BTB wavey

Try posting a new thread on http://www.mazdamenders.net/forum/.
There are a lot of people on there doing MX5 builds and a lot of people who will give you a lot of good advice smile

This is worth a read if you fancy being OCD with the rebuild...

Thanks for the links. The more I look, information for the mx5 seems to be endless. I was initially going for a cheap little summer car... this could end up rather expensive with the toys and upgrades available. Although I refuse to even type "LSx crate engine" into ebay.

I think we need pictures before expert advice could be offered as to where to proceed.
I'm going to give mine a big going over/ service soon. When I do I'm going to give the engine bay a nice tart up, painting the cam cover and inlet manifold and some nice shiny new hoses etc. Maybe that's somewhere to start while you get ideas. Next on my list is bushes, arbs and some Meisers but that's a save up job as the suspension is worth more than the car.
