MK3 MX5 2.0 Sport Roadster Tyres
Discussion
I fitted Yokohamma Avan 08's In November and did the Ring (recce for trackcar this year)- so far the seem perfect for road and track (dry conditions so far) I have run my 2007 RC on the standard bridgestones, 2 sets but they don't stand up to track work - edges go very easily so not road legal anymore ! Plenty of life left for track day use though. Overall I'm hoping Avan's will be last better - I don't do excessive track work with the MX5 and it's a low mileage car even on road use ! Hope this helps.
I've had Toyo T1-R, Kumho KU39 and Continental ContiSportContact 3 tyres and my favourites from those have been the Toyo's. I'm now awaiting to hear what the Uniroyal Rainsport 3's are like as the 2's were by all accounts very similar to the Toyo's in the dry but also better in the wet. The Kumho's come in last of those three, they were good once warmed up a bit but I really didn't like them when they were still fairly cold during the first 15-20 minutes of driving. With most of my journeys except for when going for a hoon being around 20 minutes they were frustrating for me.
