Hi Everyone,

I'm off to look at this tomorrow for the Mrs. What would be a fair price? Cat C relates to front bumper damage that has been all repaired to a professional standard (not sure by whom). Car is immaculate apparently. 16k mileage is genuine. 1 owner.

Thanks for the advice,

Jonathan

check the front chassis legs for damage & rot. Its the time of year to bid low, see what you can get away with.
I assume its an Eunos (did we get autos over here?) If imported would pin much hope on the mileage being genuine

Looks like a good car to me apart from the gearbox - not because an auto lightweight sportscar is wrong, more because it pushes the emissions based tax bracket up. According to that page (if it's right) 12 months tax is £475!

I'd expect to pay less for a Cat C, although I must admit I don't know if autos command a premium as I've never had an interest.

I paid a little over half that for an 02 Sport (manual) on a Cat D.

Looks tidy though, as above, front chassis rails!!

they don't, and they are hard to sell as not wanted by many.

Car was in lovely condition and drove well. Just a slight knocking on the near side front wheel on a full right hand lock. Car is internet salvage and cat c. There is no history at all and no paperwork except the v5. No log book. No service record. There was also no movement on price below £2250 so had to walk away. Still on the hunt for a decent auto Mk2 or 2.5 if anyone sees one. Thanks.

I don't know about the price (that doesn't sound expensive for an immaculate Mk2.5 to me but I'll leave that to others who have more experience in the MX5 market place than me) but none of the other things would put me off. The full-lock knock is a normal thing that some MX5s suffer, it's just the PAS overloading and feeding back, not a mechanical issue and can be ignored. The lack of service history - well mine also has no service history beyond the first 3 years of it's life.
