Hi guys need a quick precise answer bought a mk3 mx5 test drove it fine took it home yesterday then this morning it took 3 goes to start it over 40 secs total just been out to it now tried again the same time to start. The dealer I bought it from is 25 miles away so if I can have a solution from you guys maybe easy fix or use the ammunition on the dealer to fix it

Just to add when it starts it's fine no idle issues etc

It sounds like the non return valve in the FDM (fuel delivery module (fuel pump) is sticking open. Get the fuel pressure checked - it should be 4 bar when running, and should hold about 2 bar for a couple of hours after switching off

If the pressure drops to nothing, the fuel lines are draining back to the tank, so when you restart, the pump is having to refill the lines before it can generate pressure at the fuel rail, leading to long cranking
