My brother in law is looking at getting an MX5. the one that has took his fancy has a boot rack fitted. how easy is it to remove and does it leave damage/holes by doing so?

Probably easier to buy another boot-lid unless he's able to re-spray it himself.
Depending on which mark he's thinking of buying there should be lots available.
Autolink are one of the best suppliers going for second-hand spares and their prices are competitive.

Also depends on which boot rack. Some are screwed onto the boot and others are clamped on.

My mates got a MK1 and he had no issues at all getting it off and didn't need to buy a new boot lid.

There's only one way to find out...

If it's a bolt on like this then it's easy:

However, if it's one of these then it will leave screw holes:

Cheers chaps for the comments. Lazza it's like the top pic so hopefully it won't be too much hassle. He picks it up tomorrow. Mk1 in Leather interior, racing green. Looks lovely considering the miles it done.

Can't wait to have a go in it! I think I'm going to have to get over on the classifieds biggrin
