Cam belt is due soon on our mk2 so how much should it cost to do? Is there anything else that should be done at he same time?

No idea about cost as I've always done them myself, but always a good idea to change the water pump and cambelt tensioner & idler pulleys at the same time (pulleys are usually supplied in the cambelt kit), fit a new cam cover gasket and perhaps renew the drivebelts if they're looking a bit worn.

I also typically renew the radiator cap also as it's just as important as the cambelt, and pull the cover off the thermostat and renew that too - each of these components only costs a few pounds and it's nice know that the whole lot will be working perfectly.

While it's in bits I always do an oil and filter change too as it only takes a few seconds (using an oil extractor anyway).

Belt kit including idlers is about £100 including cam box gasket which is handy as it's easier to change the cam belt with the cam cover off. Takes about 1 hr to fit so change out of £200 is reasonable for the job. Maybe worth doing drive belts at the same time as they have to come off to change the cam belt. They are about £20 each (2 belts if you have aircon).

£90 or a full service including cambelt for £150 from Freelance Mazda outside London.
Had mine done there. Such good value and well regarded place I believe.

Can't argue with that. But worth doing the water pump for what it costs as it all has to come off again to change it when is starts dripping, which they do frequently.
