OK, I was going to scrap this, but after looking at other MK2s, this one is actually rather rust free and I'd probably like to kept it.

The door is just straight bolt on I realise, but what about the rear wing? Also, is changing the lock barrels difficult?

I've sourced a breaker that has a BRG in stock and can get the bits for a few hundred. I'm a solid 2.5/5 on the Haynes spanner rating.

It's a shame your in Wales I've got a spare drivers door I won't be using.

The back wing gives you an excuse to put a new wing on, I'd consider it both sides to be honest, given how bad the sills and arch usually are, do the front legs as well and you've removed the mk2 problem areas in a stroke.

In the event you want a shell cut I will be chopping up a mk2 shell with a straight albeit rough around the arch/sill that could be welded in to place then a wheelarch repair section let in to it.

The rear wing is a welding job, but as long as the lock barrel hasn't been damaged swapping it over to a new door won't be rocket science.

Thanks for the replies!
Can anybody recommend a bodyshop in North Wales/North West/Cheshire that could do this, and sort the arches on my mk2.5?

In the past I've used E W Evans in Ruthin-top bloke, reasonably priced and always been happy with his work

A little tongue in cheek here, but for that rear wing, you need my guide:- http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I think the camera flash makes the fix more noticeable. In daylight I bet you can hardly tell. biglaugh

Aye, thought it might be given your username! My folks live just outside of Nannerch so not far from you at all. E W Willians is only a short drive over the back of Moel Arthur into Rhuthin so very convenient for us!

I live up in Broughton now and know of a couple of bodyshops over on River Lane, Saltney but all are an unknown quantity as I've never used them before!

Keep us posted with progress of the car, everyone loves a good project thread! cool

PS: If you choose to get rid of the car pre repair I know someone who will take it off your hands-my dad is after another winter project wink

Autoline in Wigan.

Can't recommend them highly enough, they did a brilliant job on my dads MX5. http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1...

Hi Elli - PM me if your Dad wants to make me an offer - I've decided I haven't got time to get it fixed up so it will be getting weighed in at the scrap yard otherwise.
