Brake Pad Shims
Discussion
I'm sure this has happened to many of you, I've replaced my brake pads with greenstuff ones but my shims are rusted beyond belief and are unusable. I can't find the shims anywhere except Mazda where you have to buy them with the pads. Does anyone know where I can source the shims or do I even need them?
The Greenstuff pads have anti-noise pads built into the back of them, meaning you don't need the shims. Just smear some coppergrease onto the back of the pads and you'll be fine.
Also: don't use Greenstuff. Awful. I ran some briefly and they were dangerously poor - I had to brake cautiously throughout a Cadwell trackday, and nearly ran out of brakes several times. They weren't even good enough for safe road use.
I switched them for Axxis ULTs and haven't looked back.

They are not track pads. Not sold as track pads. Yellows are their track pads NDNDNDND said:

Now there we do agree. Sometimes. Seems to depend on luck whether the set you get are very good, average or rubbish - whether they work as they should, if they crumble at the first sign of heat or are so hard they eat your discs.NDNDNDND said:

Agree again. Best pads I've ever used. Shame they are almost impossible to find for the Mk2.5 Sport big brakes now.Gassing Station | Mazda MX5/Roadster/Miata | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
