If I'm looking at a car with a DSR, what, if anything, can I actually check to verify it? I know an old-fashioned service book can be faked, but at least there's something to look at.

Is DSR info available on the internet by reg number, or chassis number or something?

I reckon our resident Mazda parts department employee might be able to help you with this, no doubt he'll pipe up any minute?

When the cars are serviced you still get invoices and stamps in the book.

You can't get a service book for new cars?

Me? biggrin

I can help out, just email me or post up the reg and I'll check it/send over the DSR for you.

JohnnyFive, I bought a Mazda6 in the first week of May and I've yet to receive the DSR from Mazda. Is that right or should it have arrived by now?

Cheers.

Ah, right you are. I'm thinking of the separate printouts you get which have a record of each service on them. Which we then clip into a binder. Kinda like a book. >cough<

Yeah, thats the DSR print out you get.. Each year you'll get another one, which will show the previous services, and the most up to date service and so on.. So each year the list gets longer.

You can get a book and get it stamped if you want, but Mazda don't actually do one at all. Some like the DSR.. Some dislike it.

I can see the appeal but also the downside. As a fastidious owner I keep all my invoices but some don't. If you take it out of the dealer network it's essential to keep all the invoices.

Agreed.. I'd always keep my invoices, the DSR also has to rely on the service department entering it correctly.. Theres options on there for what was done, Oil/Plugs/Coolant etc.. I've seen plenty of DSRs just say "50,000/4th Service" and nothing about what was specifically replaced.

Sorry to hijack this thread but this is something we've been wondering about too. My girlfriend bought an MX-5 last year (from an independent car dealer, not a Mazda dealer) and has never received any copy of the DSR. I presumed that she'd only get a copy automatically if she bought from a Mazda dealer, would that be correct?

If so then what is the correct way to go about getting a copy, can she just rock up to a Mazda dealer, give them the registration number and they'll print her off a copy?

Yep, any dealer can do it for you. Call ahead or go at a time when its not busy at the dealership.

Also, apologies chaps.. I forgot all about this, will go back through my emails today for you.

Only 5 years late to the party!

I have just purchased a 2006 Mazda MX5 that has the digital service record. How the hell do I access it?

Thanks

Walk into a Mazda dealer, and hand them your key. They should be able to print you off a copy.

I just walked in to a Mazda dealership and said I'd bought the car parked outside and they printed mine off straight away
