Anyone know what price I should expect to pay for an actuator for the butterfly flap on the (beautiful) airbox? I'm not sure if the actuator has packed up, or the flap has seized (or both) but don't want to try and force the flap to find out.

Thanks,
DrPep

This gives you the price in $ http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BL96... so you can work out an approximate price in £

From what I've read the actuators do fail, I've seen people suggest just removing the flap, have a look at the CSL register for details

Actuators fail every year on average.

Most of us fix them and then remove the flap as it's not needed.

I'm running flapless with no issues.
Mine was throwing up a fault code but only every now and then so just removed it.

Yeah - if it's an annual job, then i'll leave it as it is. Stuck open is about as good as one could hope for!
