At the risk of starting a E46 vs E92 debate I'm not sure how the GTS could be confused with the legendary CSL!

The GTS puts out 444bhp, that's 30 bhp up on a standard M3 with a free flow exhaust and 400cc's extra, along with a few other tweaks.

Some will have you believe you can get a regular m3 up to over 450bhp with just the exhaust.eek

The reason for this topic is that I had a friend say that the 2009 CSL had over 500 bhp
I knew the older version from top gear had 30 bhp more than the standard M3 and knowing that the new M3 is around 430 bhp ..... I took the bet that it was not over 500bhp
He also claimed that when you order the ( must be gts then) that you can request anything from 500-600 bhp from BMW

Anyone know if it's correct

There's a thread running in General Gassing called "Stupid things non petrolheads say", perhaps you should post this one there as it certainly fits the bill.......

You never know he might be serious...and telling the truth.

M3 GTS is built by BMW Motorsport.

The engine in it, is there to homologate the 4.4 engine for the Z4 V8 GT3

In that spec, with the restrictors, its putting out 500bhp ( http://www.bmw-motorsport.com/ms_en/cars/bmw_z4_gt...

The only thing is the first GTS wasn't shipped until 2010. You couldn't get it in 2009.

So the guy is clearly talking out of his chutney chute.

That is bit like saying you can order an RSR engine in your RS from Porsche Motorsport!
