Hello Chaps , what do we think to putting a roll cage in a csl, and how will it affect the value ?

You can really tramp on in them and i dont want to sound like a pussy but it has to be a serious consideration !

Bolt in possibly ? Weld in i think cost and damage will stop that route

Help !

I met a guy who had a roll cage fitted to his e36 M3 GT at a Bedford trackday. He was insistent that the roll cage was put in with minimal damage to the interior. From what I saw of it, the quality of the job was very good.

Sounds like you already have some track focused mods albeit not quite as "in view" as a cage. Track bits will certainly restrict your target market if you were to sell but IMO don't devalue the car. Would probably be better (value wise) to return the car to stock and sell the track bits if you can be ar$ed if deciding to sell.

i think it will definitely reduce your chances of selling the car if you sell with a cage in it. There will be less people looking for a CSL with cage fitted than with none Fitted.

BOY as times go by and soem become track toolsm only as is happening now you may get to the point that if there are 10 cars for sale and one with a cage there may be 20 buyers and 2 wanting a cage in which case you are gonna be ok.

DuncanR cought his with the bolt in cage fitted as he wanted a track/ring tool. I think within the next few years you may fuind this market increases so if yours is the only one youll be ok as long as you dont want a quick sale
