Hi all,

I've just been offered 19.5k px for my wifes Z4Coupe on an 07 plate against a CSL. It's from a main dealer...due in very shortly and have seen some pics and it looks awesome.

I've never driven a CSL but have driven several standard M3's. Anyway my main question is how easy it it to get access into the rear seats and what are they like on 3hr+ journeys???

Difficult to get in the back unless you are fairly small and agile.

Bloody painful (and noisy) to sit in the back for long journeys.

If very regular use of rear seats are required, maybe think about taking an M3 CS - no substitute for CSL, but depends on requirements.

No problem once you are in the back, but I guarantee you will crack the centre divider at some point and will definately scratch the carbonfibre insert between the seats through regular use.

I love mine, never need to use back seats for passengers and only use the car at weekends - for that, it's perfect.

ETA - no problem on long journeys, 3hrs +. I actually find the seats comfortable (I am 6 4" / No8 build) and the noise just puts a BIG smile on my mug - stereo off / sport button on and enjoy - as previously said, best induction noise this side of £100K.

It really depends on whether in all honnesty to your self you really want a true drivers car.
I owned a CSL for 2 years (And still would if finances didn't dictate otherwise frown )and didn't miss the luxuries once that my regular M3 had prior to it. I can't honnestly remember ever turning the stereo on during my time with the car, other than to test if it worked.
The induction roar can be so addictive you too might never want the stereo on either.
I have two kids 6+11 and they did not complain too much about the rear seats (I never actually sat in them).
I could buy a regular E46 M3 right now but this option just does not appeal, not having experienced the CSL.

I have a z4mc and am thinking of changing to a CSL as baby is on the way. If i put non cup tyres on i assume is it fine to fine in very wet conditions? and what is this stuff about not being able to put golf clubs in the boot as it is made of cardboard? cheers

its a 4 seater and boot is fine for anything less than dense concrete blocks

access to rear is ok but for a baby day to day the buckets do restrict access to you climbing in the back but ok for 2yr+

depends how many times the kids go in a week and how big you are

It would not be the daily car for the baby... have a five door car for that. But would be used at w/e for longer trips. I guess there are no problems with putting a baby seat in there?

Hi, I have a 2004 CSL with 12k miles (just had inspection 1 service) that I am considering selling as its being used so infrequently. Happy to provide more details if of interest, am Aberdeen based. Pls PM me.

I've been in the front and back of one, and a normal M3, and think you have to be a bit of a boring person (not like cars) to find the CSL a compromise.

If it's your kids, hey, get them used to it.

If it's your family, they should understand your need to own a CSL.

If it's a friend or co-worker, they can get a lift of someone else if they don't like it.

I actually thought the CSL made the normal M3 a bit too comfy and soft, and certainly not a car I desire any more. CSL or nothing for me now I think.

Also, easy enough to get in and out the back unless you are fat and not flexible. If your job was getting in and out of the back, fine, it'd be a pain, but you don't, so it's not.

Fantastic cars, I want a black one!

I've had a couple of people in the back all the way to the ring & back with no probs. It is noisier than a m3 and there isn't a lot of padding but I didn't have many complaints!

Also use 2 isofix kids seats in the back regularly. I have removed the central plastic arm rest thing as it got in the way of the kids seats. There is an unsightly hole beneath it on the seat but doesn't other me.

imho a perfectly practical every day barge so long as you are happy with stiff suspension and planty of road noise.

The only things mine is missing that I can think of over a m3 is electric seats, tv and cruise.

I have an ipod link, bluetooth and nav fitted.

I would like cruise if it was available as a dealer fit option like it is on vw's!
