Hello all

I will be going to Silverstone for a Gold Track evening next Tuesday (GP), first time i will drive the car properly (recently purchased), it has KW variant 3 and new cups. I was going to use the settings recomended by Thorney on the web site for track use.

Any views on this and tyre pressures?

Thanks in advance.

no idea with KW as i have intrax but tyre pressure wants to be around 32psi HOT which will on a dry warmish day work out to be 26F 28R COLD

How did you get on with the GP circuit then..?

I let you past when i was warming my cups up.. and was hoping to get out next to you at some point in the evening.. but i got sidetracked racing my buddy in his AMV8... which turned out to be pretty much as quick... so we were head to head.

Next time..!

FYI.. I run 32 HOT all round as a guideline, and move the rears up and down 1psi to balance the car on the day.. depending how much oversteer you like

KW3's (dry).. Frt bump 1/2 turn, frt rebound 1/2 turn.. rr bump 1/2 turn, rr rebound 1 1/2turns.. you can dial out some of the understeer with another 1/4 turn of rebound on the front if you need to .. but your car is 100kg lighter than mine and may behave a little different on the edge.. traction 1/2 off will keep you on the black stuff and give you enough slip to make you smile.. wink

Shimmy... one day we will get together on track and play...!!

Hope you enjoyed that one... as we were head2head for 8 laps.. smile

ref: frt end understeer we talked about.. 1, see thorney motorsport, get some KW3 topmounts for your dampers.. and dial in 3 degrees of neg, 2, try some front wheel spacers too +10mm a side on the front track which i found helped a little, run 32 hot pressures.. and see how you get on.. 3, if your familiar with geo terms i run a 2mm total toe out front end, which i find helps it turn in a bit sharper.. but this is a trade off on straight line stability, and it does need a bit more holding onto, and is a lot more pointy.. this is a personal preference.. 4, another 1/4 turn of rebound on the front takes out a bit more too..
With these 4 things.. the front end will be a lot better...

To take out all the understeer in 1 hit.. some people run rear rims @ 265's on the front.. but with this you will have to run -3.5 neg.. and it will destroy your tyres on the inside edges...

See how you get on.. and to answer your question last night about power mine has a Thorney Motorsport stage 4 engine ... which was why i was pulling away from you on the straights.. which you may have thought shouldn't be happening.. wink

Goes and handles pretty good tho' dont it..! suprises a few CSL drivers..!

If you want some more power or grip talk to John @ TMS... tell him i sent you..!

255 35's fit fine on the front and give better turn in. No need to get new wheels then.

Interesting Bromers... having tried and tested all my front end grip fixes now.. there is room for improvement on the car, but only in low speed 40-60mph bends, any thing over this speed mine is working a treat now... if anything i have an oversteer bias.. next up for me I was considering running 245's on the 8.5J CSL frt rims, and balancing it on the frt pressures... you have run 255's ?.. and they clear everything OK..? on what camber..? any issues with over tyring the 8.5J rim lock2lock clearances...?

Do cups come in 245*35 / 255*35 section OK..? not the N0 porsche cups..? which dont have the rim protector lip..?

I believe the E90 cups are 245*40's which I have considered, but are not what im after... wink

yeah no issues with clearance etc, am running about 1.5 degrees on the front on std suspension. Tyres sit very square on the rim and don't look like they overhang at all. Don't think Cups come in that size though, think 40's may sit too high. If they don't work you can always use them on the rear.
