Anyone know if there are any unique markings on the CSL Cup tyre fitment..? to differentiate them from the porsche 235*35*19 fitment.. as i have a set of part worns with questionable heritage..!!

I have noticed some in my Cup stack have an extra groove on the outer shoulder.. which i believe indicates N0 series.. but i could be wrong..!! biggrin

extra groove is Cup+ not Cup.

also you will find outer cross grooves longer/more, main grooves are wider and rubber compounds are different all to make better wet weather performance but poorer dry grip.

Cup Literature

Cup+

as far as i know NO rated are Cup+ as i dont remember any NO rated offcial Cup tyres as biggest were 235 and 265 and not fitted OEM to any porsches until 997RS

I dont think you will find NO rated Cups are any different to other Cups or Cup+ as side walls are strong anyway

Your right Shim.. I have some of each...! the 'N' rating is Porsche approved as we know..
The N0 Cup+ has the extra groove on the outer shoulder, the Cup has the 3 middle grooves about 1/3rd as wide as the Cup+

Ive just measured up the 2 back 2 back now.. and effectively the cup has 25mm more tyre width as a footprint on the tarmac.. as the grooves are so much narrower.. so i can see them being a fair bit better now..! They are both the same Temp/Traction/Wear/87Y load index ratings..

I'm curious as to whether they would both yield similar dry lap times..? and the cup+ just being the better water tyre with its wider valleys..

I guess i will have to back to back test them to see the real time differences.. wink which is not a bad problem to have..! unless anyone has exp of both types on a CS/CSL here..?

I have also just noticed that the Cups have a kerb protector lip on them, which is easy to spot once you know..!

One of the guys on the Porsche page tells me that the NO fitment on his 7RS is nowhere near as good as the CSL fitment in the dry.. the fronts are both 235 on each car..

when i spoke to the 'Michelin Man' he was stating the biggest difference was the rubber compound mix and he said the Cup tyres had the full works and differing rubber compounds whereas the Cup+ becasue it was aimed also at wet and cold weather was much more like PS2 in rubber compound

so i guess dry times should be much better with CUP and CUP+ are probabaly much more like T888

if i had a set of CUP+ I would save them for road trips and euro trackdays as i have been caught pussyfooting around a few times in Europe on the autobahns with bald cups on in torrential rain and it aint pretty!

Well the cup+ is certainly better that PS2's that much i can tell you...!
After checking my stack again, it looks like i had a combination set mounted up for my last track outing, and wondered why I had bit more understeer than usual..! + on the front, full fat on the back..! i managed to get a pretty neutral balance on the car playing with the dampers and tyre pressures all afternoon.. but i wondered why i couldnt get it spot on..! doh... laugh
