Just out of interest, can you run the CSL on ordinary unleaded (95 RON) for everyday use? or does it always need the expensive stuff?

I just ask as my 996 was more than happy to run on the cheaper stuff for plodding around which probably saved me a fortune..

You can run the normal stuff but would make sense to run Super.

Never tried, always run mine on Super. I did find my M3 didn't like 95 at all, got really lumpy, so just stuck with the Super.

You will actually get more MPG out of the Super stuff than you will from the cheap stuff, it burns better producing more power, so you need less throttle to do the same job ;o)

on the subject of ecomony - what sort of MPG are people getting?

Also, whats the range of a full tank generally?

what, i cant be interested in economy relative to the performance and the distance achievable on the tank?

I didnt say it was vital, just a nice to know..

I've tested this theory and found absolutely no difference in MPG.

I used mine as a daily driver for around a year and got around 22/ 24 around town and up to 30 on a run (motorways 70 to 80 mph.
It runs ok if a little down on power on 95 ron, I would say it really seams to love tesco 99 Ron, and you do get more miles to the tank. I regularly get 280 to 300 to the tank.
Don’t get me wrong if you give it the berries all the time it won’t get any thing like that.
Track days I find a whole different matter more like 10 mpg at best.

Ps it matters to some of what fuel costs! We all don’t have cash to burn
We all don’t have a fantasy garage with a car for every occasion? We might need a car to drive to shops and take to the track.

Happy motoring.

I noticed yesterday that if I cruise on the motorway at 78 instead of 83mph, my fuel consumption increases to approx 29.5mpg instead of 27.3mpg, which is quite a saving. smile

And that's why you need to do a comparison of the fuels over a period of time rather than just with 1 or 2 tankfuls. I tested them over a few months and found next to no difference in MPG between normal and super. Shame I didn't have anything at the time to record the performance differences though.

95 ron fuel makes my emissions light come on.

So I avoid it.

Have you been to the dealers about it? I've never had that problem with the CSL.
