Im thinking of selling my sg csl which i have owned since 19/10/06, purchased from main bmw dealer with 8250 miles on it, now on 12800. 2 previous owners, 1st being bmw.All fully serviced by bmw main dealer inc all import 1200 mile service, oil service just done with mot on 7/11/08, also fully comp bmw warranty until 20/10/09.Stunning car, totally standard car with the options inc air con, also with tracker.only used at dry weekends hence the low miles done since owning it.Totally original straight car no dings dents scratches.Let me no if anyone interested and if anyone with any thoughts as to the price of my car.

Barchey,

I'm looking and want a SG with AC & xenons if poss. With a low mileage like yours you should be able to get a quick sale, although pricing will be difficult and depend on who and how many want your car. Have a look at the other thread on the 58K one. People might be slightly put off by such low miles on a 5 year(ish) old car, how has it been kept and has the oil been changed yearly or is it just once on the service?

Whoops 50K one, thread should be obvious, it is called "What should I pay?"

why did it have a inspection 1 service? has it spent most of its time on the track?

I would have said around £32.500.

Mine has 11,000 miles on it and has another 5100 on the dash
until inspection 1. I would have said yours has done a few track days
not that it matters with CSL's!

i feel it will have spent most of its first couple of years on the track unless the first owner did the service for no reason.

still sounds like a nice car, email me you contact number.

Wouldn't that first Insp#1 been TIME based, rather than mileage?

Not having the service manual to hand means I can't remember the exact schedule once time takes over from mileage, but I *think* it's annual if mileage is insufficient.

its only based on use and the car will only have the oil servies every 2 years, the inspection 1 is not time based (so i am told by BMW)

True - but always get mine serviced every year (ish) regardless of mileage. Inspection II due next.

I was told the Inspection 1 was dependant solely on how the car had been driven. Mine has done 22,000 miles and is still 5,500 miles away from Inspection 1......so I must drive it like a girl then!! I think you should ask at least £35,000 - Let's do what we can to maintain values. You'll only regret it if you sell it anyway!

Values are inflated at the moment due to there being a few buyers about and not enough good cars. Alot of the cars have issues, poor/missing service history, too many owners/too many miles/poor condition/aftermarket additions,no aircon, these are all things that will make a CSL undesirable to any buyer with their head screwed on. I paid £27k for my 20k mint car WITH BMW warranty etc etc, but IMO that was too much if I am honest, but I needed a car, so I paid over the odds. I think the benchmark very shortly will be £24-£25k for run of the mill cars up to perhaps £28K for the very best cars.smile

I'm keen on another one but as Hazy has said there were/are a few of us looking and that seems to have firmed prices up, my tops would be £28k max, i just cant justfy paying more than that for one , i did not pay much more than that for my last one well over a year and a half ago.

Once you are into the £32k and upwards you are starting to get close to Porsche turbo and gt3 territory.

Agreed, although I would say that as a possible buyer. I will be buying over the next two weeks and paying £26K max for the best I can find. If nothing except dodgy ones are available, I'll have to wait. BHP have one up for £32K and it's been there for 4-5 months for that price. Put it on for more than £30K and you'll be waiting a long time, perhaps forever! Put it on for £29.5K and accept £28K and Keith may be interested!

I think the recent 'buying spree' is over, it was only a couple of people (inc me talking about buying). Most have now bought....

Don't believe the above is an issue..CSL's are the type of cars that change hands yearly in some cases and these are BMW's and take the mileage. As long as they have good service history and condition is good then don't see a problem.

Ding - mine gets serviced at least twice as often as it should do. I know it will cost me a bit more on servicing but should be worth it in the long term. It doesn't do the mileage to stick to the service indicator.

Personally, I can;t really see csl's really dropping below £20k as I think they will just be snapped up as track day toys if that's the case. I think £30k is too much for one bearing in mind what you can get for that money these days.

Somewhere between those figures is sensible and for a really clean low mileage one then up to £30k is sensible. I would always pay a couple of grand to get a low miler.
