What should I pay?
Discussion
Hi,
I went to look at a CSL yesterday - nice Black 04 example, 50,000 miles, air con, Xenons, Rear Parking and FBSH inc 1200 mile service and BMW extended warranty until march.
Its from an independant dealer, and will be getting a major service before pickup, but i wanted to know what a reasonable price to pay for it is?

Awkward with a limited edition car like the CSL but having observed the market for a while, a 50K mile one with 2 month warranty & service just done, AC & Xenons in good condition inside and out will be priced at £26-29K at an independent. A good price for the buyer to achieve would be in the region of £25K considering the world events, Jan's tax requirement for self-employed/small business owners (some CSL sellers are in this boat) and the fact that many buyers have already bought theirs this month (I know of 4 buyers)!
PS For an independent, how long they have had it sitting there and how well they are doing with the rest of their stock will be significant factors too. For example, they could go for £25K if they need to pay bills and nothing else is moving or hold out for £27-28K if thye have only just got it and other stock is moving.

I know a excellent one (44K, Insp 2 just done, 12 month BM Warranty, excellent inside and out, new rear PS2s) which went for just under £25K this week, and another similar for £26K last week. There are ones advertised for up to £29K but they are not selling. £25-26K is 'where it is at'!
Which dealer and how much is it stickered for?
£25K must be agreeable for this one: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/743293.htm
This looks like a good one but is a little leggy, prob looking at £25K to actually sell: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/858814.htm
This one may have had a new engine recently, got to be a good thing!: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/787808.htm

He'll come down, I think he had a CSL up for £32K which went for at least a couple of grand cheaper...

It looks like a good one, and it is a dealer one (indep I know) but there are ones with less miles as per above.

The Waterside Motors car is a lovely genuine CSL(not that Im biased or anything!)
I am selling it for a fellow PH'er(dustyjustin). He's had the car just over a year and had our local BMW dealer go through the car with a fine toothcomb when he bought it(they advised new discs and pads which he let them replace). He has renewed the BMW warranty(no excess)around Septembertime and has just had new tyres fitted all round.
Since Ive advertised the car there has been a lot of enquiries but not one person has actually viewed the car

its from Nick Johnson and he's asking 28k.. (has 3 months extended warranty)
it needs a service and tyres - but he said he'd throw them into the car for the asking price...
Walk away mate, the car is a pile of st, in fact all his cars are. it needs a service and tyres - but he said he'd throw them into the car for the asking price...
The one at DK is a nice nice car, one owner from new, brand new engine fitted by BMW, I only passed on it coz its too any miles for me, but that was the ONLY reason, car drives lovely.

care to expand on that comment, as it sounds like you have an issue with his buisness rather than his stock?
No issue with his business, I'm talking about the CSL's he currently has for sale, they are not to my standard and not the mint examples portrayed, sorry if me trying to help you has upset you, but I did alot of homework on these cars and his fell well short of the standard I expect for the money and for what is a true enthusiasts car.hazy said:
