Time has come to change the discs on my M3, read that CSL discs are 20mm larger diameter than standard M3 and all you need is followers (is that what they are called) to extend the standard caliper out the extra 20mm, I'm assuming that both models use the same pads ?

So off I go to local BMW dealer, and got in a right mess, the bloke there kept asking me for my registration number, when I tried to explain to him what I wanted to do he said "you can't do that you don't have a CSL".

When I pointed out that it's my car and I can do what I want he got all sty and started going on about part numbers, I wanted to shake him warmly by the throat so decided to leave as we were now attracting a lot of attention.

So could you kindly point me in the right direction regarding someone who could supply these and or the right part numbers.

Many Thanks

Bob

Get the part numbers from RealOEM.com, same parts as the M3 CS. You need the caliper carriers.

Anyone of these two should be able to help. Sometimes they have good used ones from when owners upgrade to A.P.'s. And Thorney can supply new original BMW front CSL discs I believe.

You won't get CSL parts from a dealer unless you have a CSL. They won't sell OEM CSL parts unless you own one, and can prove it, ie turn up with it!

You should be able to get them from Thorney though, or CA Atomotive.

Although, if I where you, I would look at after market brakes; Brembo, Stoptech, Tarox, etc.

They are M3 CS parts if the dealer asks wink

And if you have the right dealer you can buy what you want...

Thanks to all for your time and effort, I will go the TMS route as they are in my neck of the woods.

I don't want to go to AP's or Stoptechs etc as I don't track my car and don't think that they are needed for road use, well not for me anyway, I kind of favour the mild upgrades rather than the wild, I have pro-kit springs and Rouge ARB front and rear which I can't praise high enough, the car corners completly flat with no role and theres a huge increase in speed into and out of corners and roundabouts.

Can I take it that csl & standard M3 share the same pads ? I really could not live with squealing pads so don't want to go to anything exotic.

Thanks

Bob
