Went down to LM this year and one of our party was in his Sapphire Black CSL. He has had the car for a few weeks and it's performance has been faultless, as it was on the way down.

But when we went to start it on the Friday morning, there was nothing. Recovered it to the local dealer who hooked it up to the diagnostic kit, reset a few things and it ran sweetly again (difficult to ascertain the exact work as my French doesn't quite go to those levelswink )

But Saturday comes and it won't start again. So, towed to the dealer, mechanic has a day off, some other chap looks at it, fiddles with the battery then says Sacre Bleu, it's 1200hrs, I'm off home. Marvellous. Car left at the dealership to be worked on today, so when we go on Monday to transfer camping stuff, give it one turn over and she starts again?!?!

Has anyone here encountered this and if so, what could the problem be?

I presume there was power from the battery and the alternator is charging the battery optimally.

If the above is true, then you are looking at a starter motor problem or an SMG pump issue.

Or maybe even a faulty bonnet sensor?

Battery was fine and all other electronics were working. Further to the OP, when the key is turned to the starter position and held for 20 seconds earlier, the bloody thing started. So I guess that points to the starter motor in some way...?

Yes, seems the logical part to look at
