Toyo Proxes 888 track boots..
Discussion
Sure Nick, 19" 888 rears are on the way...
Are you running AP's by any chance..? I'm looking for some 18" rims that are the right section to clear the calipers.. and not sure whats the best route.. the 18" 5 spoke OZ's are my preferred rim, but i could do with knowing if they fit 1st..!
I have source some half worn ex-Tuscan challenge 18" slicks for 30 quid a corner, so i can see the value of 18's here... by far for track days..

Silly suggestion number 2....people who think cups are the ultimate
You think there is a better fitment to a csl?
What is it? Don't say 888s as they don't handle the heat and chunk if you press hard.
Had the same crap with the GT3 boys trying save a few quid, and the emperors new clothes existed for a while, until cup shod cars always seemed to be quicker on track. Now established pretty much that 888s are no competition for the miles superior Michelin.

Has anyone tried the 888's on the track..? on a CS / CSL..
Can the stock control arm bushes take the extra loads ..or is this not recommended..?
They do a 19" now which looks like the way forward..
Now that PS2's are being phased out..
There aren't extra loadings! They are designed for cups, and they are damned sight better than the over rated Toyos...Can the stock control arm bushes take the extra loads ..or is this not recommended..?

The best tyres I have run on my CSL are the Dunlop DZ 02 G. I run 265 all round and it's awesome.
I'm fully aware of Toyo's compared to other brands, the point of discussion was factoring in cost, when you do, they are a good tyre, they certainly can get the CSL round the ring in well under 8 mins.
More people should get a set of 18" wheels and try different tyres, like I did. I'm about to get my second set of 18" rims that are a lot lighter than stock CSL rims, mine has always been a track only car though.

I am a Porsche 993 RS owner and use Toyos; I was aimlessly browsing for some thoughts on hot pressures and saw this thread.
I am interested at 3 degrees negative camber and how you stop the inside edges disppearing when driving say to the 'Ring?
I also agree that the Toyos do not seem to like getting too hot, but then find plenty of sticky tyres like that. The yoko AO 32 I used to race on did not like to be driven past their limits for too long either.
I think the Toyos are a good tyre, good value with good wear and which work in the wet and far from being a "poor man's" Michelin!
Is the sub 8 minutes on public days and so bridge to gantry?

Cheers Nick, I'm geting some stick here for suggesting there may be another route than cups..;) i'm open to options..
For me cost is a consideration.. so how much are a set of cups..£1100 Toyo's under £800.. At present i'm buying in part worn PS2's for 50 quid a corner and binning the fronts after 3-4 hours on track.. the rears are lasting 2 or 3 days..
2.5 degree front neg camber made a huge difference...handles like a proper track car now.. i got a whole afternoon out of my fronts yesterday..!

Ratboy, dont worry about stick from anyone else!! I have used nearly all brands of track tyres on the CSL, if you want any info just PM me
Nathan, dont forget the wheels are freshly powder coated too!!! ha ha.
Shim, I beg to differ, have you tried the dunlops? Admittedly they are appaling in the wet, especially with the 265's up front, heading into schwedenkreuz at full chat with standing water is interesting!

my favourite all round tyre on the CSL is the Corsa Tracks...
They're a full on semi slick, like the Cups, but are a softer compound, and have more play in the tread, so get up to heat much more quickly, and have fairly good damp / wet performance.
Not ultimately as fast as the cups, but much more progressive on or just over the limit, and thus more fun to drive with... if you're not chasing laptimes
I run them on 235/40R18 / 265/35R18 on the CSL, and am thrilled with them.. only downside is the car looks relatively st with them on, as it means its running standard 18" m3 wheels
I'm going to look into getting some nice BBS 18"s to rectify that, but its a low priority.
