CSL & E92 M3 comparative performance figures?
Discussion
e92 slightly quicker in a straight line, though from personal experience it isn't really noticable on the road when they are following each other.
CSL on cups laps the 'ring in 7:50, e92 on cups (albeit cup+ tyres rather than plain old cup tyres) laps in 8:05.
CSL is £20k cheaper and aren't depreciating as quickly as the newer car if that makes any difference.

IMO the E92 isn't comparable to the CSL (even in E92 CSL guise) as it is in a completely different price bracket. For the money (<£37k), there's nothing like a CSL in terms of practicality, and blistering lap times.
However, if I had the funds available to buy an E92 M3 it wouldn't even get considered for 2 reasons:
1) 996 GT3
2) Depreciation (something which is fairly negligable at the moment with CSL's and 996 GT3's)
I hope you're not considering selling the 964rs - values have got silly recently.

I don't have my figures to hand at the moment, but to keep you going..
The E46 CSL gets from 0-125mph in around 16-16.5 seconds, the E92 M3 will do that same increment between 15-15.5 seconds, so its quicker but only really manifests above 100mph, otherwise they're about 0.5 second apart at 100mph.
Lapping Bedford the E92 M3 managed a mid-124.5 if memory serves me correct. Check that against the usual lap times in EVO, but if memory serves me right that's around 1.5-2 seconds slower than a 997 GT3 and pretty darn close to the E46 CSL.
The difference comes down to the purity of the driving experience, the E46 CSL seems to deliver more than the sum of its parts, whereas the E92 M3 is closer to what you would expect (i.e. one of them will probably exceed your expectations more than the other).
Both will distinguish themselves by the sound and feel of their engines, the CSL has that unique touring car racer sound from it's massive carbon fibre intake, the E92 M3 has one of the most evocative V8 engines of recent times (although it was silenced somewhat from the more raw press car I drove at the launch event). Both are at the top of their class in this respect.
I actually find they feel similar in terms of acceleration (although my CSL is putting out close to 380bhp, so perhaps that's part of the reason why).

I found www.fastestlaps.com which was quite revealing....
I'll have to drive both. Only way to decide....

Simitis? who are they? do you have a link?
Not heard of them before!
cheers
Damon & Mitchell have recently started Simtis. Mitchell has extensive experience in remap work having been involved in Revo. Not heard of them before!
cheers

Highly recommended for CSL remaps.
