CSL Inspection..
Discussion
Hello all,
having deliberated heavily over what new car to go for for a while I am certain it will be an M3 CSL (from a 964) I have two questions, there are a few in the classified section but not many so if anyone is about to sell please PM me.
And...Does anyone know a person or company that does full inspections on them prior to purchase, or would you just have this done by a BMW main dealer?
Thank you

Your best bet is to register on www.mtorque.co.uk and get yourself familiarised with the aspects to look out for on a CSL. Also, it's usually preferable if you're buying private to look for cars that are owned by forum members as their history is normally well documented. As for pre-purchase inspection, I personally wouldn't rely on a main dealer, but would advise you use a specialist company such as Thorney Motorsport or Simpson Motorsport. Both companies know CSLs very well and are better placed to give you a worthwhile opinion on condition. If you want to avoid the hassle of a pre-purchase inspection then you could ask one of the existing CSL owners on MTorque to view a car with you. If a private sale car has extended BMW warranty in place and it looks to be straight then you are pretty well covered by the warranty if anything mechanical does fail. I've just sold my CSL but know of another immaculate car that is up for sale with a good straight provenance and it has the all important AP brake upgrade. It's immaculate in every respect and has known history. This is the PH advert for it: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/340235.htm

But if you buy a CSL with Bmw warranty, it should be ok as they cover most things.

You're based in London - and as pointed out an inspection would make a lot of sense and personally I would tend not to use a main dealer where possible but rather a BMW specialist. Bexley Motorsport run a CSL and know a lot about these cars - I use them for my car.WWW.BMSPORT.COM
