Always bugged me that Evo had the CSL at 4.5 stars but now they've driven one and it came second in their M Power group test they've upped the rating.
Feel good now....
OK, where's the smug smilie?Feel good now....
That was my car. Btw, the 4.5 stars only ever applied to the black ones...
Don't mind me, still recovering from EVO's take on the wonder that is E36 evolution...

ha ha 5 stars !! WOOT WOOOT !
btw i also own a E36 Evo i reckon its the bargain performance of the millennium, if your M orientated ! ! Just wish mine wasn't a wreck on my drive
amazing engine and stonking "raw" chassis + one of the last handbuilt engines ! !
lets not forget the fat that the E36 M3 evo engine is basically half a MaccaF1 engine without the fancy crap !

Was a journalistic travesty it never was 5 stars. They haven't posted the time they took it round Bedford West circuit yet...
The panning the new car is getting is reminds me of the bilge spoken at the time of the CSL launch. Why is it so fashionable to knock M3s?
The E36 is a great car that suffers from not being as pretty as an E30. But one is a 4 cylinder puffer and LHD and the other a 6 cylinder RHD car and in EVO orm, properly quick. I reckon an E36 racer does a good job. Leslie and Handkammer seemed to beat everyone in theirs...
E30 the best? Sentimental old gibberish...CSL is better in every single sense. Feel, fun, speed noise, poise and looks (as long as it not dopey eighties style Black).

E30 the best? CSL better???
Well, as an e30 M3 owner, I'm pretty sure that a well driven CSL will leave a similarly well driven e30 M3 well behind, but it would have to be exceptional to 'feel' better i.e chassis communication and steering feel.
I haven't driven a CSL and would love to as they are gorgeous, however I have driven many fast cars incl e36 M3 EVO and prefered the e30 to all of them (so did the owner of the e36).
Don't want to get into an argument over what's best, as in terms of feel, it's what appeals to the driver, but it does seem everyone regurgitates that same sentimental old tosh....or do they really just prefer the E30 M3??
If anyone will let me have a go in their CSL, I can choose which one I prefer!
Anyone down at Brands on the 6th Decemeber for the BMW Car Mag trackday?
