All,
I love BMWs but cannot drive them due to the seats not suiting my back, I have previously owned various 3 series, 5 series and an E39 M5 and had to sell them all for this reason.

I am currently considering a CSL on the basis that it has fixed (hopefully third party) bucket seats, my question is are they BMW or from Recaro or similar?

I have a Porsche 964RSL track/weekend car so therefore know that I can get on with Recaros, I am also used to a harsh ride so am not worried about day to day use in the CSL.

Thanks for your collective help,
Cheers,
Kevin.

Hi Kevin, they are made by Recaro. I have a picture somewhere (in one of my SportAuto magazines) showing the CSL seat being made alongside the racing bucket seats of the 996 GT3. I own many different BMW's and the CSL seats do not feel similar to any I have ever sat in.

You can retro-fit Recaro's, pop onto the BM3w site and ask(or search)there. I recall there are a couple of designs that are recommended for the larger posterior wink

Hi Kevin......I also have a 64RS and suffer with back problems in most seats.

However I have no such problem in either the RS or the CSL after any length of time.
