Hi guys,

Having just sold my 911 I'm seriosuly considering an M3 CSL, something semi-practical and lots of fun. If anyone can point me in the direction of a genuine, reasonable mileage car (around 20K), with BMW warranty and 1 or 2 owners then I would be very grateful.

Colour isn't critical, neither are options - although it should have air-con and xenon's. I would prefer something un-molested - no huge ICE installations or thrashed around the track (well, not thrashed too badly!).

Trying to pick something up at around 32K...or there abouts. Private buy preferred.

Cheers

Mines up at Barons BMW Hindhead, SB, Cups with new PS2's, Xenons, Aircon and CD. 12K miles and never been on track. Extended BMW warranty, 2 owners, but have owned with a colleague from 350 miles. Perfect condition but on their forecourt for £38,995.

Which is exactly why I won't be buying from a BMW Dealer!

Am sure it's a gorgeous car but I cant justify spending the additional 4K or so for the experience of being able to walk into a BMW franchise to buy the car.

I appreciate your reply though, and its a lot better than Rydale Cardiff could come up with (now part of Sytner Group). They offered me a 15k mile very basic car with no xenons and not even the original CSL alloys - they had standard 19" M3 wheels - for a not inconsiderable 39,850 !!!!!!

It did have one option I liked the sound of - the removal of the top speed limiter

Cheers
Mark

It looks prices are fairly strong for the CSL at the moment (I would said that - not selling though), you get what you pay for.

Totally agree, I just wouldn't spend an extra £4K to buy via the BWM network.

Keep an eye on the PH classifieds.

By clicking on the M3 section you can use the filter option to search for cars with "CSL" in the title:

www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.asp?s=273&dist=10&pc=&min=&max=&y1=&y2=&txt=CSL&px=&filter=TP&o=p&Submit=Search

Good luck with your search.

Thanks guys...

I am keeping an eye on PH Classifieds and there are cars available - just not quite the right one for me at the moment.

I'm trying not to rush into anything but am sure that my eagerness may well get the better of me soon! Fingers crossed the right car will appear

Hi Colin

I think we have chatted about yours briefly (BM3W?)- one too many owners for me and I must admit that the ICE install you have fitted puts me off a little - only because of any damage caused by the fitting of amps and associated wiring etc.

Other than that it's perfect

Fair enough.

Just for the record no damage has occured to the car or the wiring by installing an amp in the boot. The speakers and head unit are just a far better quality straightforward replacement. Once converted back to standard you would never know they had been there.

And in case any one reading this gets the wrong impression the car only has two previous owners

Best of luck

Actually, at the time I thought 3 owners (me being the 4th) was going to be too many but at the moment I would probably go with it if everything else was exactly what I wanted.

Your right about the audio install, perhaps I'm being a little anal about it. I just had this idea of a sub screwed on the cardboard boot floor....totally OTT I know.

I guess it would have been nice to see the car before everything had been removed and then made a judgement.

Good luck anyway....do you have any other pics you can send of the interior?

Will try and get some pictures tonight and send them over. The current stereo will be removed next week and converted back to standard so you will see how it looks at the moment. Just looks like a CSL with a different head unit. There is a small sub in the boot but it is free standing and has a 4 pin connector so you can lift it out in seconds. Will take a picture of the amp as well which is hidden in the boot.

Can't understand the fuss myself. No different from buying a Porsche with the top of the range Bose system. My friend has one in his 997 and there are about 12 speakers and a couple of amps hidden all over the place!

By the way don't mention cardboard floors on the other forum. They'll shoot you for it. Bl@@dy Clarkson! mad Makes a few silly comments and everyone remembers them!
