I finally picked my CSL up on Saturday, and I'm more than happy! Having owned one or two quick cars in the past, I'm happy to report that for me the CSL is not one of those cars that only puts a smile on my face when I'm driving at 9/10ths or faster. It has real character, and (for now at least) I'm nearly as happy pootling along, as I am when driving it in a little more spirited manner. That engine alone is worth what I paid for the entire car. The turn-in is not as sharp as I'd like at present, but the trade-off is excellent stability, and the slight tendancy to wash wide at the front can always be countered by judicious use of the right foot. That said, I think a geo' set-up is on the cards.

Some piccies (if it works)....

Nice one - change the tyres to cups and you will cure the turn-in issue. If it's still not sharp enough you can swap over the top mounts to give -2.5 to -3.0 degrees camber, they turn like they're on rails after that!! I adore my CSL - I will never sell it unless BMW make another one.

Other thing is running more neg camber makes your cups last longer imho.

i am on the max neg camber on my stock suspension but would like to know more about changing the tpo mounts over like;

how long does it take?
how much does it cost?
can it be done and changed back easily?
do you have to get geo done after each change?

can anybody advise?

Very very happy indeed!- many thanks for your help Gareth.

I've just been for a very early morning blast (it's the sort of car that does this to you!) and it's like driving the automotive equivalent of Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde - relatively refined and quiet while pootling along under a light throttle, and then an absolute riotous snarling monster by the time you've introduced the throttle pedal to the stop. The term "loud pedal" must have been conceived after a drive in a CSL

Aren't they just brilliant? Mine is the first car I've ever had where I've not turned on the radio! I bought an IPOD with the intention of fitting it to the CSL but I've never fitted it in the 4 months I've had the car. As for early morning driving - I've had plenty of midnight jaunts on clear B roads which I've never wanted to do in all my S/RS Audi owning days!
