Hello,

Sytners have a 53 plate M3 CSL with 9k miles in at the moment. It's up at£39k. Do you think this is a fair price considering the mileage?

The reg number is BK53 AAV. Was this anybodys on here?

Cheers,

David.

Considering that people are beginning to collect these cars, low mileage examples such as this will probably fetch that kind of money. If you are buying this as a daily car and you are going to put 30,000 miles on it, then I wouldn't recomend buying one like this or you will take a big hit once the miles are up.
If you are keeping it as a toy to use on nice days then it is worth looking at.
The market is showing that the nice tidy low mileage examples are holding their value very well.

Well I left a deposit on this CSL today. I think it was a bit on the expensive side but they took a p/ex off me and I got a good finance deal so I'm very happy.

I will start a new post about what to look for before I pick it up.

Cheers,

David.

From a dealer, if it's £2k too expensive, where might you have found another ?

And if you got your £2k back on the part-ex, then well done you.

There will not be any more --- and the UK market received so many we don't realise how rare these cars in RHD are.

Hi Chris,

When you add it all together including 1 years car tax it stands me at £38K. Still a bit more than I wanted to pay but the dealer is only 20 miles from me and its a gorgeous car. Has no pdc though which was on my want list.Need to wait 5 days now so they can service and prep it...Can't wait.

Hate to say it but it sounds way too expensive to me... I got mine from a main dealer 18 months ago with 13k miles on the clock for 36, all optional extras. I'd be delighted to hear prices are actually rising but when good private sales seem to be in the low 30's I don't see why you would pay so much more from a dealer... In any case I'm sure you won't regret the choice, fantastic car.

congratulations!

I purchased a 10k csl from a bmw dealership four weeks ago, listed at 37k, which i thought was a little expensive at the time. However after 'doing the maths' i reckon it was equivalent to getting the same car for appx 35k in a private sale( ie service, tyres, mot, warranty and associated insurances)

Ther are very few one owner low mileage cars about( i looked for nine months), and it was well worth it. I am still getting to know my car but it is fantastic.
hope you enjoy yours!

Adam, it's always the same.

When you buy a really nice cherished car, it will always bring more than some of the now "mongrel" cars on the market, and the security of a dealer will cost still more.

But --- I challenge you to find a really nice single owner low mileage known solid history CSL now for much less than £36k.

18 months ago there were quite a few --- now they are all higher mileage, more owners, more modified --- raced --- and coming out of warranty, and that dealer warraty is worth quite a lot.

I know what your saying. I think the car is worth £36k with 9k miles but the sun was out today and I wanted to deal so I gave more than I should.
I have got it on a balloon finance deal over 4 years. I managed to get there 1st monthly payment quote down by £120.00 per month.
This is something to think about when buying from the main dealers.I haggled hard on the monthly payments quoted and saved myself £1440.00 per year in payments.

That sounds woefully overpriced, I've been on the hunt for one for a while and have seen a quite a few - I almost bought a 54 plate with 1 owner, fully loaded, 10k on the clock for 36k at a dealers a few weeks back (are you enjoying the car Damon?)

I'd make sure you check the background of the car too, I was offered one from Leicester just before xmas that was apparently in tip-top condition, however I'd seen the pictures of it after it's tussle with a stretch of armco

If anyone's looking for a decent CSL there's one coming in at Knights North Stafford, they rang me today about a car coming in shortly, 54 plate in Sapphire Black, 2 owners, 14k, Xenons, Air con, stereo but no PDC, it'll go on the forecourt at around £36,940 but I'm sure they'd do a deal for £36k

There's no doubt I want one, god knows I've been looking long enough... but on the flipside my missus has been quite ill over the past year with breast cancer - so as soon as I find myself ready to buy we seem to have a little scare and I have to take a step back and think is it the right thing to do, but I'll get one, someday )

Nothing is too expensive if you've found what you want and you're happy.

I reckon that prices actually have increased in the last 18 months or certainly since I bought mine.

But with all this talk about mileage being value I'm now inclined to put it away as it's just turned 10500 miles having done 1000 over the weekend.

Perhaps not......I'll just enjoy it.

Always a bit curious that people value low mileage cars so highly. Surely if these cars are serviced properly they'll go on for at least 150k miles?

When I buy a car, low mileage is not an issue, service history is.

I agree. I'm going to drive mine whenever and wherever I want and to hell with the mileage. With regular proper servicing these cars will go on to 150k miles.

Consider this: New CSL was £60k. If the owner only did say 9000 miles in it and traded it in at say £35k to a dealer, that car has cost him £2.78 per mile purely in depreciation. If the same owner had done 30000 miles and traded it in at £28k then the depreciation cost per mile drops to a much more palatable £1.06!! And he would have had that much more fun driving the car than looking at it parked in a garage!!

Drive them, that's what they were made for!!

Thanks for the advice. To be quite honest Sytner Leicester's level of customer service so far has been quite shocking and I havn't even got the car yet.
All I can do is keep asking if anybody knows the car, and with BM3W down at the moment I don't think I will get much response.
To be fair I wanted to back out of the deal because of various worries but thay wouldn't let me. I looked at the car at 4pm Monday and left a £2000.00 deposit then at 9am the next morning after thinking about the deal over night I asked them if I could cancel the deal.
Well all hell broke loose then and the school boy bullying started from there side. I know I'm a big boy now and I left a deposit, but to be forced to buy a £38k BMW even when I had a change of heart overnight is appalling. The car was not even prepped for sale and they had only had the car 1 day but they still forced me to buy the car or if I didn't they would hold my £2000.00 deposit for 6 months during which time I would have to choose another car from Sytner Leisester. If I didn't agree to this I would loose the full deposit.

My last two cars have been bought from Sytner Nottingham and Sytner Graypaul. One was an M5 the other was a Ferrari 360 F1 so I consider myself a loyal Sytner customer.

The whole affair has left a sour taste in my mouth and I'm not really looking forward to collecting my CSL next week. I'm sure I will be happy when I drive it but I would never buy another car from Sytner again in my whole life.
