My diff bangs on full bore upchanges. I noticed and mentioned it on the pre-purchase test drive. Dick Lovett Bristol, who've just sold me the car, say it's characteristic of the CSL.

Correct? Be grateful for your views.

Alan

PS
I am completely overwhelmed by this car. What a creation!

Yes that thud into gear is quite normal! And doesn't seem to do any harm. I also used to get it on my previous E46 M3 and it's the same with my CSL.

Thanks. You've put my mind at rest (pending further posts!).

My mate has a CS, which does not share this trait, but it is a completely different car.

I have a 12-month warranty and a very friendly dealer, so time will tell.

oddly mine used to do the same until the clutch/flywheel was changed - now it doesn't do it at all!

The clutch was apparently changed 4K miles ago. Don't know about the flywheel.

I paid £33K from Dick Lovett Bristol. It's done 33K miles. Got aircon but not xenons. It's silver. They've still got a black one with more spec, including AP front brakes, but I think mine is in nicer overall condition. Looks like a well cared for car, but I've got it now! Can't believe that I've just kerbed a rear wheel, so I've ordered a spare set of Cup rims from BMW (£1,200 inc VAT, which I think is cheap). Apart from dealing with my incompetent driving, that'll let me try out some Cup tyres - it has PS2s on now.

I nearly bought that car, but went for one nearer to my home. What did they have it up for when you saw it?

£33K, I think. I traded something they gave a very good allowance for, so I reckon it was more like £32K. Quite honestly, I would have paid £35K if necessary as I don't think there's a lot to choose from. What else can you get for this money? What did you get and how much did you pay?

Got one for 36k miles, paid £31k. Car is clean and seems good value!
