The brake wear indicator has just lit up on the dash thismorning yet the car was fitted with new disks and pads on the front 1k miles ago. Does anyone know whether the indicator also comes on if the backs are low? I have asked the lacal BMW site and they do not know.

I have visually inspected the pads and disks on front and they are as new. The backs look like they have plenty left in them. It might just be a dodgy sensor.

I can also hear a very gentle ticking noise when the window is down on the move. I wonder whether the two are linked. Has anyone else noticed a ticking noise? It sounds a little like a sticking hydraulic tappet but it goes away at idle so I can only assume it is not engine related.

Yes, there is an indicator on the front left and the back right, the cable slots into the pad and gets worn through causing the light to illuminate.
