Any ideas what could be done to a CSL in upgrade performance. Sorry not a daft question I know someone who seriously wants to do it. Already derestricted by BMW. Can you squeeze further HP out, or are they already at limit. If so who could you use. Assume work will invalidate warranty. Can you purchase independent insurance backed waranties.

Brakes (AP) and suspension (intrax, ohlins or moton) first.

After that has been done speak to Tony R from bm3w.co.uk who will be offering a range of engine options from 420bhp NA running Motec (so no more SMG, have to convert to a manual box) to supercharged 500+bhp. Warrenty will be out the window though.

personally I'd leave the engine alone and go for a lower geared diff (again Tony can help), limit top speed to about 170ish but get better acceleration all the way there and keep SMG. 170mph is plenty for all circuits I can think of.

There are real gains to be achieved via the exhaust, by replacing the Cats with 100 cell items (from SS or Miltek). The standard car comes with 200 cell cats. There's probably around 10bhp to be gained from the exhaust. Otherwise Kelleners in germany have built a 3.4 litre car with a claimed 400bhp+ and it's certainly possible to produce more than 400bhp from these engines, but that's in race trim.

p.s. there are also a few supercharged examples around with around 550bhp. Do a search on 'Loaded CSL' on Google or BM3W.
