Thanks. Looks like the major cause of complaint is the lateness of the crucial running in service.

How crucial do people consider lateness of running in service when it comes to selling time? Can in question is 800 miles over....

probably matter when it was new but if its done 70K+ miles I wouldn't worry about it unless you're going to flip it anytime soon? ask https://everythingm3s.co.uk see what they say as they work on these engines all the time

I suspect when the dealer bought the car at an auction they might have not realised the small issue of the overdue first run in service.

I would use it as leverage to reduce price.. car should be clean otherwise so why discount it. I bet plenty of other cars which look ok on paper have been ragged to death on track.. so...

Given the age of these cars it really will make no difference to the reliability of the car, the only issue will be selling it on as buyers tend to be anal about these cars and I suspect you’ll have the same issue come sale time.

Car hasn't been serviced for 4 years either as it's 'been in storage'.

My old car, was very good fun.

I owned it for a year when I was lucky enough to use it as my daily driver and did quite a few sprint races in it.

Sold it to buy a 996 GT3 which I still have.l but do quite miss the CSL.

Congratulations and well done. How much did you pay in the end (sorry if it is mentioned earlier in the thread). Was there much movement on the advertised price? I think these cars are at an age where a 1200 mile running service is neither here nor there. If it has not broken yet then it will be fine.

I bought a new battery for mine last month having had and OEM (lightweight) BMW one which despite having a maintenance charger on it only lasted 3 years - Exide name on it. Not impressed at all.

I bet you are looking forward to some nicer weather and the end of lockdown.

I've been using it once a week but obviously not in anger. A few bits & Bob's to do to get it up to scratch which were negotiated into the price.
I should have got one year's ago. Great cars.

Just got the car back having had diff & vanos etc done. Runs like a dream.
Currently enjoying a well earned break in Norfolk stretching its legs.
What a machine.
