My car has done 46k miles and its been reported that the rear subframe bushes need replacing. How many miles do these normally last please?

If it’s had a hard life of heavy accelerations from stopped and harsh gear changes (smg- so yes it will have) it’s not unknown - you can normally tell they are gone when driving on heavy acceleration and gear change - the back will feel like it’s twisting.

But it is over 15 years old so they could also just be deteriorated

Thanks, the car is under extended warranty, but I suppose it would be too cheeky to ask?

Always worth trying, I suspect a cheap warranty won’t cover it but bmw extended warranty might

Cool. I've got the BM Auth warranty, so will see what they say.

They wouldn’t usually be covered under the extended warranty. It would be a good opportunity to drop the diff carrier & check the boot floor when you do change them.

Replace the bushings with Powerflex black and you’ll never have a bushing wear issue again...

But have you had the RACP plated and braced? I’d be more concerned about that than bushing wear.
