E46 M3 CSL Exhaust options?
Discussion
Ive just put a deposit down on a CSL, so hope to have it for the weekend, but interested to learn more about the best mods for the car.
Which aftermarket exhausts set ups are held in highest regard?
What are the options, and what are their pros and cons.
straight pipes? xpipes? lightweights? race? sport etc etc

Congrats on the car. SG or SB?
Others will be along soon to advise, but my own personal preference is to keep the stock item, so as to hear the induction noise better. I can see (hear!) the appeal of some of the aftermarket ones on the CSL, it just wouldn't necessarily be for me
And for the record I'm far from adverse to aftermarket exhausts, with an Eisenmann and a SuperSprint on my other cars

^ This. When I roadtested my CSL before buying it, it had some lightweight/minimalist Gruppe M POS fitted.

The first thing I said to the vendor was "Can you refit the standard exhaust please ?" he did, and not once did I regret it.

I have the dixus lightweight Titanium backbox- i think they retail for nearly £5k.
Sounds epic and weighs under 5kg's from memory.
If i hadnt bought this i would have kept the standard one as they still sound amazing as BMW intended-plus there is less chance of noise test issues on track days etc..
cheers Jamie

Does anyone have experience of both the resonated and non-resonated SS X-pipe with an otherwise standard exhaust? I currently have the resonated pipe and love the subtle increase in depth of tone yet absence of rasp, but I wonder if the non-res adds a little bit extra or is it just a bit too much?

Thought they only had one version? Think mines unresonated. Nice Italian metallic rasp, together with the airbox in Sport, the car sounds mental!Take the car on Euro tunnel ever year and always sound off when joining / leaving the queue for the shuttle, much to the disdain of my family

Where can I buy this from? There seem to be so many options... Take the car on Euro tunnel ever year and always sound off when joining / leaving the queue for the shuttle, much to the disdain of my family
I think I'm going to add the non-res x-pipe but stick with the OEM back box.
Which is the non-res x-pipe on the website?...
