Probably the potentiometer gone kaput, a common CSL fault. Just remove it for the moment. In fact many run without one permanently for extra lower-RPM noise

Actuator fail

Unplug and remove three bolts for flap and remove flap, don't loose 3 bolts in airbox. smile

Replace and plug in potentiometer and drive with out flap, no issues

Thanks very much guys - just seen this as for some reason the alerts didn't come through - found a helpful mechanic called Peter in Schulstrasse in Weisemscheid (5 mins away) who plugged in a laptop but couldnt find a fault so just undid the flap motor, reversed it back on with one bolt and put the other two bolts back in. Job done - Euros 50!
