Hi guys.

This has probably been answered before, but I'm looking at getting a CSL in the future and was wondering if there are any alternatives to the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres. I've been informed, wrongly I suspect, that these are the only tyres that will fit the CSL wheels.

Thanks for any help smile

Any tyre in CSL size can fit. I heard MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport is the best alternative for road use.

Supersports. Very very impressive tyre. Cups better on track but if it's for road use then Definitly SS's.

Supersports will be going on my road alloys soon, PS2 (their preprocessor) were excellent however I never liked the Goodyear F1 assimetrics on the CSL. Others like them, but I wouldn't have them again.

I did have contis on an e46 M3 on 18"s (the drivers choice), and though they were good...

PS As already said, any tire will fit the CSL rims.

Mines got Goodyear Eagle F1's on at the moment and love them but since using cups for TD I really want to try the Super sports as suggested above.

For road tyres there are dozens of makes that will fit, Michelin Pilot Super Sport ending the best by a country mile.

For track at OEM 19 inch rims, Cups are the preferred and best choice. You can get Toyo R888, Pirelli Trofeo at 19 inch sizes that will be ok, but neither are as good, both are just as expensive and R888 are as noisy as fook!

look out for deals, ATS and Kwik Fit do deals which sometimes include 19inch Michelin tyres. Costco can do deals as well which include 19 inch and Cups.

I run super sports all round on my CS and they are absolutely fantastic tyres. Very good in the wet as well.

I use 19" Supersports on mine; great compromise for road and track tyre (also in the wet). A lot better then the PS2. For a track only tyre I would choice the Cup+ on the 19" CSL wheels. For a tyre that's good on road and track the Supersport is the only answer for me. I don't have a second set of track rims, so I use the Supersports all the time (not in winter off course). Cheaper then the Cup, they last longer and IMO grip is 90% of the Cup tyres (on track and when hot).
