CSL's - They're fantastic
Discussion
I got in the CSL tonight to move it in preparation for selling it and instantly regretted my decision to sell.
It's such a special car. And I've had some brilliant motors in my time. It really is in many ways better than the GT3RS I had last year. It's certainly far more of an occasion than my current 997 Turbo.
I don't know if it's the noise, the trick CSL bits, the sheer rawness of the car, but it really is special.
It's certainly worthy of its own forum!!!
Now how can I tell the Mrs that I'm not going to sell after all?????

Just been in the US, and driven from San Francisco to LA, most of it on the coastal road. Hired a Camaro convertible for the trip, my thinking being it was better to do the drive in something suitably American. And while it was nice to have the roof down in the sun, all I could keep thinking was that I wished I had the CSL out there for the drive instead
Have been seriously tempted to go the 911 route myself (964 Turbo, 993 C2S or 996 GT3), but I would really worry about regretting the decision. Think the CSL will be a keeper. Unless I get the funds for a 964 RS maybe

It's Mrs GG that is insisting I prune my collection. She has a point, we can hardly get in an out of the garage.
The CSL is an M3 CSL so yes, E46.
It's just it has that 'sense of occasion' so often refereed to that my 997 turbo doesn't. Its not the interior, its the little nuances, carbon fibre bits, engine noise etc that make it special before you've driven off. Then it's the out and out racer feel that makes you grin. Zinnnggggg, Zinnngggg!!!

I absolutely love these, everything about the look, sound, feel of exclusivity, the lot. Except that gearbox. It's the one thing that's stopped me having one. I admit, ive never driven one but i just love my normal manual involvement too much. Ive often thought it odd they didnt do a normal 6 speed version. The CSL is an M3 CSL so yes, E46.

I miss mine, defo! Can't wait to dig her out on Saturday after my 6 week detox.
Thinking of getting an E90 M3 but not selling the CSL. Friends and Neighbours will think I'm mental having both but I don't care. CSL for fun, E90 for Mrs SB to collect me from the boozer in a bit of style.
I like.

The car is legend, but what are the natural alternatives at circa £30k.
