Got my Inspection 2 looming and wanted to get some recommendations for a BMW garage who are experienced with M Cars and won't have a 15 year old spannering around under the bonnet.

Any suggestions?

Where abouts are you? If near Bath, use Wellsway and ask for Mr Roddis, the service manager. My CSL is in there at the moment and they know what they are doing...

Thanks - i'm in London but not afraid of a drive over especially if it can be done in a day and combined with a weekend away. Cheers

I've heard good things about Murketts of Huntingdon, not used them myself though

Wellsway all the way!!! Looked after all my CSLs. Tried many a dealer. Somethings in life are simply worth the travel for. Only wish they could service my current car

Perhaps rather harsh on BMW dealers. I worked at Coombs/Vines of Guildford for 10 years. I always checked M3 valve clearances, I found usually they would be out at the 1st service and then wouldn't change again.

When I finished the service I would give the cam cover a wipe over with a WD40 type spray to give it a good finish.

BMW Battersea look after my CSL and several others. Give them a call and ask to speak to Matt Grigg. If you check out the CSL Register, there's a thread there about Inspection 2 prices, it's worth checking out as the do tend to vary. Wildly.

Am also in LN.

Just switched to Elms in Cambridge.

Very good experience. Very switched on CSL experienced technician - not just regular M-tech guys, great service. New facility in Cambourne with good coffee, pastries, internet while you wait and good terms for folks through the cslregister. Good rates for Inspection 1 / 2 etc....

All about the techs working there (I have just switched from one of the garages mentioned above wink )

No affiliation, but did I sell it yet ?

Just don;t, seriously..... they screwed up with my e39 m5 and alpina d3.... yes not csl territory, but mud sticks....

Murketts in Huntingdon are only a few miles away and are a BMW approved service centre only, so no crap overheads and just a real passion for cars, always have 2-3 csls in being worked on when i pop in.... no flash waiting area, but who cares heh...

How long ago ?

Things have changed significantly at both places in the last 6 months (facilities, but more importantly, staff)

granted haven;t needed any help from bmw this last 6 months.....

yes, staff are most important.... sadly for bmw m power fans AP passed away this year, he was service manager for murketts and owned a e30 evo himself...
