Big Bill ? How Much (E39 M5)
Discussion
Well I have an inspection 2 due soon and have been told that I have a few other bits that need doing.
Brake Pads (Front and Back) (I can do this myself)
Outer track rod end rubbers split
Drivers side lower ball arm joint split
Inspection 2
now i have been quoted £500 + VAT for the inspection 2, I am just wondering how much I am looking at for the rest of the bits ? Also how much do you save by supplying your own oil ? The irony is that i will be selling the car after all of this is done .

Ahhhh, the joys of M ownership!!
Inspection II is £500, however call round and get some better price and use them to get your local dealer down.
Cotswold BMW are usually the best price on inspections.
Eurocarparts are the best for M wishbones, the front offside one on my M3 just went at the ball joint and they were charging £140 for it, and £40 for the lolipop bush that is sits in, however warranty direct insisted it went to BMW rather than just covering the parts price and they charged £604 to replace it!
Front brakes on the M3 with pads are around £380-500 depending where sourced, rears are around £200-300, so I would guess pretty similar.

It will be going in to Bexely Motor Works....Just had a mail from opie oils with a 15% off castrol coupon till friday. So 12 ltr is £130 (thats 10w60 for M Cars).
Get the service pack rather then just the oil, as you save another £10 on 8 litres.Edited by maddernj on Tuesday 7th July 11:30

Who's doing the work? Decent 10w60 Castrol Edge (NOT sport) is expensive stuff so be prepared to spend well over £100 on oil.
Why do you say NOT sport? I use the 0-40w it is DAMN dear but am I going wrong?gizlaroc said:

Always worth checking ebay for oil but be careful, I searched 'BMW Oil' and got 8 Litres (2 bottles) of Castrol Edge 10w 60 for £45.00 from a rally sport company that had some bankrupt stock. Always collect this type of stuff if you buy, do not accept by post so you can check what you are buying before you hand over the cash.
