Z4M cracked screen?

Hi All
had a bloody stone hi my screen and now theres a 12 inch crack and growing!
anyone had their screen changed? just wondered what the deal was, obviously i'll phone the insurance, i assume they will just use autoglass etc.. would they use a BMW screen? or something else, does this affect the warranty?

Most car dealers will call in a specialist. That said, BMW have started to train their own guys in automotive glazing. They can do the job and are especially good at door-glasses etc, but I think they need a lot more experience/exposure into bonded/bonding glass. Mattt said:

There should never be such fear of having a windscreen changed. Yes, using the above-named company means there's something like a 65% chance that the work will be done by a trainee, but it doesn't mean all windscreen installers are cowboys.Use someone recommended by a friend or someone who is rated on forums like PH.
TBH, I can't see how anyone can get a Z4 screen wrong - only inexperience or shoddy workmanship.
As for the rain sensors not working - could be something as basic as them not fitting them back on correctly, or if they're disconnected from the loom, it can register as a fault. Other than that, their may be manufacturer faults with the sensor mounts although very rare (unless an inferior brand was used).

I wish the simple answer could be yes; technically, it is, however there are a handful of companies who will make life so difficult, anyone with a sane mind would go with their nominated supplier.Also, it is a common misconception that the more well-known companies are insurance approved. It's a misleading word which really means that they are approved / contracted for direct billing.
The majority of insurance companies will allow non-contracted billing although there may well be limits or 'caps' in place to prevent the policyholders spilling the work which AG or AW cliam as righfully theirs... what just because the insco's chiefs' families had their holiday paid for by them? Ahem, allegedly.
