M3 E46 Coupe - inner door trim loose in todays sun!

Came out to the car to drive home from work and the passenger side inner door trim (the rubber) has come loose along the top - like its split from the main part - and is hanging down

Looks awful

I presume the glue has gone in the heat, but where its contracted I think its going to be a bh to try and glue back in


Anyone got any ideas/had experience of this?

Ah - my old 330 sport did this on both sides. I think its a design fault with the rubber. I ended up sticking mine back on with some special glue, all was ok after that. Have to say I to was shocked when I came out to it and found a line of rubber trim hanging down!

Yep, same thing happened on my old 51 plate 330Ci. I just ended up super gluing it all back but it was a pain in the a*** job and never quite sat right. Another little "quirk" of the E46!

I take it you need to glue then clamp it overnight to secure?

Yes - I used masking tape to hold mine secure overnight then all was fine after. Its that or buy a new rubber trim at great expence.

I did the same thing. Just take care not to get the glue on the outside of the trim as it is a pain to get off.

Sorry to appear a little dim, but whats the best type of glue for this

It was quite a while ago that I did it, but I think I used superglue.

ETA - or ask your local dealership what glue they use on this type of repair? You might be able to just pick up a tube from them.
