E92 M3 or Nissan GTR??

Don't you already have an E92 M3 as per your signature? And have you tried a GTR?
Performance wise, the GTR is faster than a 911 Turbo, on par with a GT2 so it is purely down to what you want from your car: NA screamer or grunt fest? I would personally have the GTR as it seems like the most complete, accessible and bullet-proof supercar out there.

No offence but IMO the performance difference is so great that they aren't comparable.
I understand you're asking about the fun factor and I have driven neither but hear me out.
For example, my Z4MC is loads more fun than my 996 C4 was although it is only marginally quicker. Yet if you compared the C4 to a car slower by a similar margin (like the M3 compared to the GTR) although RWD and considered fun (e.g. S2000, 350Z) the sheer performance difference made the C4 more fun.
If you were asking which is more fun - GTR, GT2, 360CS or 430 Scud? I would expect it to be one of the latter.
No intent to upset anyone, just my thoughts. If you were to get a GTR I doubt you would be disappointed.

thats righ but i have nto tried the GTR, i ask because there is pots of praise for its capability, but not much chat about its character.
The new M3 a riot to drive, Autocar did a test of the new Focus RS vs the Nissan and the RS came out the winner in the fun stakes.
I would imagine this would be the case with the M3 also.

If you're considering a car in the £50-60k price bracket I find it more than a little odd that you seem prepared to accept the word of journo's who's independence can be questioned, or the word of the PH massive, some of whom have very strong opinions which are not always based on known information. Perhaps if you'd put a list of the pro's and con's of what you see each has against your relative importance for factors like 'fits in the garage', service intervals, 30-70mph Time Exposed to Dandger type metrics etc., after having evaluated the car yourself, perhaps we could comment more specifically and more relevantly about your comparison. I like M3s, but I would take the GTR.
I cant believe the mentality of the badge snobs on here who say they would not spend that sort of money on a "Nissan".
Its an engineering masterpiece, and I think they look absolutly fantastic, couldnt care less what badge is on it.
If you want to go fast, thats the car to have.

Hmmm, when it comes to Fords any Jags I don't really trust Autocar. To many supplements about the latest Ka or whatever. Remember when they said the S-type R was better than the e39 M5? Neither would come high in the fun car stakes, for which perhaps you want a few more flaws, and a more touchy-feely interaction with the driver.
Pro GTR - ultimate capability.
Pro M3 - good taste, refinement, interior quality relative to GTR, space, sound of the V8, plenty capable enough.
I have had various Jap sports cars in the past, but right now I am delighted with my E92 M3 and not even slightly tempted by the GTR. Maybe that's because I am rather old! (The cars most likely to tempt me out of the M3 would be R8 or various 911's, perhaps Evora, or lower down the scale MX5 - but in fact I will be sticking with the M3).

GTR, in a second. Not to say i wouldn't love the M3 as well, but i want my second car to be no-compromise fast and the GTR wins that hands down.
As a daily driver I'd probably take the M3, i would think the frantic nature of the GTR would frustrate with mostly road journeys. I would assume the M3 cruises better when not hooning, but can still 'lift its skirts'.

Im not a badge snob (I do have a Mazda afterall) but if I was spending my hard earned it would be on the M3.
If I had loads of cash I would buy a GTR as a toy because there is no doubt that it is an amazing car.
At the end of the day some people think a badge / image of a car is important and dont just buy it for its ability.

It's funny how some people go on about badge and image. In this case, the Nissan and GTR badge are more impressive than the BMW and M3 badge. I love BMWs, I own an E46 M3, but this offering from Nissan is so much more than the M3. The GTR is a tech masterpiece, it has huge performance, amazing presence and a great price tag. It would I feel be the car that gets the nod, the most interest, and the most respect.
Out on the street, cruising, cracking on or simply going balls-out on a favourite bit of road it would be the GTR for me.
