Intravention (as mentioned above) is the most elegant solution.

Dice / Denison is an alternative if you want sat nav integration.

The cheapest option is the retrofit AUX input mounted in the glovebox. Available from BMW smile

Intravee II is amazing. Well worth the £180 I paid for the full set up with the Alpine KCA 420i

I agree. Full ipod control from the standard head unit makes it better than most OEM ipod kits.

My friend with a Golf GTi Edition 30 is very jealous, as he gets no track info, cannot search by album etc.

I agree intravee is very good. But don't have huge expectations. It's still quite slow for searching albums and has some limitations but it's the best.

There are vids on youtube.

Recently installed an Intravee II and Alpine KCA420i and must say am really impressed by the easy installation and easy interface. I would highly recommend it, the only thing i feel that wuld make it better is album art on the nav. But i would suggest searching Google for a second hand one, as you will pay between £240-£300 brand new for the pair. I managed to get the two units for about £160 second hand.
