Car is 98 E36 M3 EVO with 108k. I don't know if the clutch has been replaced before so it could well be original.

When cold the clutch isn't too bad.

However when warm it becomes increasingly hard to engage gears. Once the car is hot and I come to a standstill it is very hard (nr impossible) to get first. If you do manage to get it into first and are on a completely flat piece of road you can tell that the clutch is not disengaging properly as the car creeps forward despite the clutch pedal being pressed completely down.

Is this likely to require a new clutch to fix? If so what are my options? BMW genuine clutch or is there a good alternative which is cheaper?

I'm kind of hoping someone is going to say the clutch cable has just stretched and that it can be replaced at not too greater expense?!

I'm fearing the worst in terms of repair costs for this!

Thanks for any advice.

Wow, as simple as thay? A braided clutch hose? That's excellent news if that fixes the problem!

Where is the best place to source such an item and is it expensive to fit?

Thanks for the help!

Hey Nicky.
I purchased a braided hose off Bexley Motor Works only to find my M already had one fitted. Because i ttted about so much before I went to fit it they wont take it back. It's brand new in the jiffy bag so if you want to arrange a purchase just PM me.

Regards John.

had the same problem myself, 1 braided clutch line from bexleys and problem sorted, brought the biting point up at least 2 inches and totally transformed the car!
