Don't know if this is the OP's reason, but if your car got stolen by scumbag joy riders and got mercilessly hammered/thrashed/abused for hours or days on end, would you want it back? A tracker will increase the odds of getting your car back and save the insurers paying out, but I'd prefer to never see my car again if it got stolen. Bear in mind also that the lower end trackers don't auto alert so if your car gets nicked, nothing happens until you report it to Tracker/police which could mean a significant head start for the car thiefs.

I've often thought this is well.
If the next car I buy has a Tracker fitted, I very much doubt I'll have it activated.

It certainly doesn't make much difference to the insurance premium, I checked yesterday out of curiosity.
