Just wondering how many of you have a private plate? There seems to be more and more on the roads these days and not to feel out done i've just purchased M3 CUY (M3 GUY). Never had the urge to buy one before now but got this one for a steal and wondered what your thoughts were? Good investment?

Cheers

With plates, I'm in the school of thought that is "if I like it, thats all the matters"

Obviously, if you like yours, then who cares? I used to have a B16*** plate on my car, and loved it. Nowadays, I have moved on from that and have two others, one of which is the closest I can get to my nickname (Woody). I've had mixed comments on it, but basically, I like it, thats all that matters.

I have one, means nothing to anybody but me as it's got my initials on it. Personnally don't like ones that have to be altered with bolts or spacing to read differently, but aslong as you like it that's all that matters.

I have had a personal plate for about seven years now (four cars) and although I would not get ris of it there are times I wish I hadn't started (when changing cars when not trading in is an example)

Each to their own.

I love it...

I should add: I got my plate (initials + the 'perfect prefix') when I was 21, back in the days when I was dreaming about owning a TVR etc...
The fact the plate now sits out of place on the M isn't half as funny as when it resided on my 1.2 Punto!!! hehe

I think they're very childish.

However, if I end up buying the Z3M I have my eye on, it may get one. V23MMM is available, which is quite nifty. smile

I think most people know I have one... whistle

I think they're good if they're amusing, or spell something, without having to start going down the route of modified fonts/letters or misplaced screws to get it to read something that might resemble half a word .... if you squint.

Latest one I saw on Friday, on a 996 C4 I believe it was, ADV150R... liked that.

I've had a few and still hold a couple inc the one now on my car.

Don't really view them as an investment but will say that the more exclusive you go (within reason) the more to tend to get offered - especially down the single letter or digit route.

I've never lost money on one but never made a mint either.

I had C6SSY on my old escort Cos.

I'd like M4TTY, or MAT7Y, and have seen them for sale, however they are far too expensive.

co-incidentally "M3 GUY" is on an M3 just down the road from me - personally I think its a bit of an embarrassing plate unless your name really is Guy. Kind of like approaching a woman and saying "Hi, I'm an M3 guy, just love those machines"biggrin
